PYLOTUM is a research presence of the TUM located at the Peking University, which is funded by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). The main goal of this research presence is to promote and enhance the cooperation between the Technical University München (TUM) and the Peking University School of Oncology (PUSO). Within PYLOTUM, a Joint Key Laboratory for the study of cancers of the upper gastrointestinal tract was established, where high-level basic and clinical research in the field is conducted.
PYLOTUM was initiated at the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene (MIH) and the Peking University School of Oncology (PUSO) in 2017. PYLOTUM has emerged from a long-lasting collaboration between Prof. Markus Gerhard and Prof. Kai-feng Pan, and provides the unique environment for further technological and scientific exchange as well as all infrastructure necessary for the conduction of joint research projects and clinical trials. Training of young scientists in the field of upper gastrointestinal cancer research is also a main objective of PYLOTUM.
